Owen insists Man Utd do not fear Barcelona - 7th September 2011
Michael Owen is under the impression that Manchester United are not at all scared of Catalan giants Barcelona.
The Spanish La Liga title-holders doused United 3-1 in the Champions League final at Wembley in May and have only strengthened their squad in the off-season with the arrivals of Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez.
But Owen says the Red Devils do not fear Pep Guardiola’s men although he does admit things would have to alter if they did meet again in Europe this season.
Disappointment for Owen as Brown Panther trails triumphant Census at Newbury - 14th August 2011
Michael Owen left the running to others on Saturday as he spent the opening day of the new football season watching his homebred colt Brown Panther race at Newbury.
After a week out with a back injury, Owen trained with Manchester United in the morning before dashing south to see Brown Panther keep his Classic dream alive by finishing a creditable second to Census in the CGA Geoffrey Freer Stakes.
Both the winner and runner-up are firmly on course for the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster next month.
Panther Declared For Freer - 11th August 2011
Michael Owen's Ladbrokes St Leger hope Brown Panther is among a batch of four three-year-olds taking on their elders in the CGA Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
Brown Panther, trained by Tom Dascombe, made an unsuccessful trip to Hamburg where he could manage only fifth in the German Derby, but he had looked good when slamming fellow Geoffrey Freer rival Census by six lengths in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot.

Michael Owen gives Manchester United friendly win over Barcelona - 31st July 2011
Manchester United have demonstrated that Barcelona are not invincible, after all. Okay, this was only a pre-season friendly, a time for experimentation and Sir Alex Ferguson's team were spared the brilliance of Lionel Messi, but this was still an encouraging way for the Premier League champions to end their three-week tour of the United States.
The decisive moment was provided 14 minutes from the end by Michael Owen, who has now scored in three out of United's five tour matches. Nani, for long spells the outstanding player, had opened the scoring in the 20th minute before a brilliant strike from Thiago Alcântara levelled the match during Barcelona's one period of concerted pressure. Owen's goal came six minutes later on a night when the Champions League finalists attracted a crowd of 81,807 to the home of the Washington Redskins.
