Alex Ferguson hopes Michael Owen is back soon

ALEX FERGUSON is banking on Michael Owen's thigh injury being less serious than feared.
Handed a rare start in Manchester United's 2-0 Champions League win over Otelul Galati at Old Trafford last night, Owen was involved in the build-up to Antonio Valencia's eighth-minute opener.
But he pulled up while making a run to the near post, immediately signalling he would be unable to continue. Owen, who was eventually replaced by Javier Hernandez, took to Twitter after the match to vent his frustration.
Fergie shares the 31-year-old striker's disappointment but believes he may be back sooner than later.
The United boss said: "It is unfortunate for Owen. "He made the first goal with a fantastic run to pull the defenders towards him, allowing the ball to be tapped in easily by Valencia. "Unfortunately we have lost him to a thigh injury, but it is a different type to the ones he has had in the past. "We hope it is not too long because he is such a really good player."
